We chose a really windy Spring day for Greta the Dachsie’s photo shoot. To be fair, it had been raining for weeks previously so we took advantage of the sunny weather.

Luckily our location at the Rondebosch Common in the southern suburbs of Cape Town provided some spots sheltered from the wind where Greta could walk calmly with her girls.

At ten years old and true to her breed Greta kept me very busy. She was very keen to climb and jump but due to back problems (also typical of the breed) I had to be very careful and not encourage any hi-jinks!

Her recall was good and she never wandered far. The harness was kept in place just in case the leash need to be quickly clipped on but you can see where she felt the safest.

We finished off the shoot with some time in the home where Greta was quite happy to pose on her favourite cushion.

Dachshunds have such expressive faces and I love their perky noses.

What better ending to a busy day, than to cuddle up with her favourite people for a snooze on the big bed.
