Here in the Cape we are really spoilt for choice when it comes to beautiful natural locations so I was over the moon when Hailey the border collie and her owner Calèché, agreed to join me on the Alphen Trail for a woodland photoshoot.

The border collie was originally bred to gather and control sheep in the hilly country between Scotland and England. Being very intelligent and highly trainable, Hailey was a joy to work with.

The connection between dog and owner was always evident and they were both very comfortable in the lovely woodland setting we chose for our photoshoot.

My shoots always include lots of rewards, mainly in the form of treats, even for a dog as focused as Hailey.

It’s not all work and no play and play breaks are included to keep things fun and relaxed for both the models and the photographer!

The Border collie’s famous ‘herding eye’ is a breed hallmark. Such focus!

Border collies are considered to be one of the most intelligent dog breeds in the world. It is therefore really important for their overall health and happiness to keep them mentally stimulated. This breed is eager to learn and can be trained for all sorts of jobs, from search and rescue to competing in competitions. Be sure to do your research before you take a border collie into your home as they will require a lot of your time and dedication.

Not all the dogs I work with are as well trained and focused as Hailey and that’s okay. Different breeds have different personalities and quirks and I love working with them all.
Purebreed or mutt, big or small, trained or crazy ~ they all deserve the love! Contact me here to book a personalised photoshoot for you and your favourite pooch(es).
